I want to thank everyone who came to my event the other day. It had been raining hard but rain stopped in the morning of the event. That’s a miracle!  Thank to Roppongi who brought us many Japanese products. I liked little snacks and typical Japanese drinks! Thank also to S from Jacaranda Tree who encouraged and helped me a lot for this event.

I hope to organize some seasonal events like this in the future. Meanwhile I will continue Kids and Parents Art Lessons at Jacaranda Tree. Please check out my site regularly (or send me a note to put you on the mailing list). Have a nice summer holiday!

SENSU is a Japanese style fan, typically made of paper. Let’s get ready for a hot summer by making our own fans using stamps made with potatoes.  Wear your Japanese style clothes if you have them!

Saturday 26 November “Let’s Make Your Own Apron and Sushi!”

(suitable for children 3+)

Children are great artists and cooks! Let’s have fun designing a kitchen apron and making sushi with your little one. As all Japanese children like sushi your child will love making and eating sushi too! It will also be an interesting introduction to another culture. *Please note that we’ll make our sushi in the easy way so it won’t look like the ones in Japanese restaurants… But it’s still yummy!

Sushi ingredients: Sushi rice, rice vinegar, sugar, carrots, cucumber, broccoli, shrimp, eggs, green peas, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, ham, seaweed etc.

*You’ll select your choice of ingredients to decorate your sushi. In this way you can avoid food that your child is allergic to.

Saturday 29 October “Let’s Make Your Own Halloween Costume!”

(for children of all ages who want to make a costume with their parents )

Halloween trick-or-treating is popular in Amsterdam too.  Let’s make costumes together and have a fun Halloween! At the workshop you will be provided with colored plastic sheets, boxes, recycled containers, pompoms and other materials. I have some idea suggestions for your costume or you can design your own original costume. Even if you’ve no ideas yet you’ll be inspired by the material at the workshop!

иконописMy son joined the Rocket workshop and made a super rocket!!!

Before summer I ran two art workshops for kids and parents. The themes were “Let’s make your own building” and “Let’s make your own rocket!”. Here are some pictures from the workshop. You can see how it went…unfortunately I have no pictures of super cool rockets that children made at the workshop!  I will organize some more workshops in October, November and December.
